STAVI
Atlanta, GA
STAVI is a painter, muralist, street artist, and professional troublemaker, whose ego and paintbrush compete daily for attention. He’s published a book documenting his artistic escapades—complete with snarky commentary—and even created a card game featuring his relentlessly awesome artworks. Regarding critics, he's famously said, "I love all my haters, and all my lovers hate me," revealing a deep and complicated relationship with approval (and grammar). When exhibiting a self-portrait at our gallery, STAVI boasted, "I painted this panel in one day, no reference, eyes closed, one hand tied behind my back, uphill both ways, while chewing gum."
After leaving his beloved warehouse space and relocating to "beautiful Peoplestown, Atlanta," he remarked, "I try not to let a minor inconvenience—like space—limit the ambitions of my paintings, but lately, I've resorted to making non-painting objects, like this book." STAVI lovingly warns readers of his book: "This is a collection of my art and life experiences. If at any point you start to hate me or whatever nonsense I've written, take a break, skip the page, and just stare at the pretty pictures."
